Suwanee Arts Festival Turns Town Center Into a Gallery

Suwanee Town Center Park spent the weekend as an open-air gallery, and it wore it well. The Suwanee Arts Festival is a juried show — meaning every booth earned its spot — and this year's lineup covered original paintings, ceramics, photography, sculpture, jewelry, glass, and fiber art from artists across the region.

What I love about this festival is how naturally it fits the park. The booths wrap around the great lawn, kids run the fountain in the middle of it all, and you can walk the whole show, grab lunch on Town Center Avenue, and still have your afternoon. It's exactly the scale a community arts festival should be — big enough to find something you didn't expect, small enough that you actually talk to the artists.

It was a stacked weekend even beyond the festival: Duluth ran a free outdoor movie night on the Town Green, and the spring event calendar around the county is only getting busier from here. If you're new to Gwinnett, April is when this place shakes off winter and remembers it has some of the best public spaces in metro Atlanta.

My tip for next year: go Saturday morning, park by the library side, and start at the fountain end. The glass and ceramics booths sell out of their best pieces before lunch — and walking in costs you nothing.
