The Short Version
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is the largest school district in Georgia and the 14th largest in the country — serving more than 182,000 students across 139 schools. It's also one of the most diverse districts in the nation: students speak more than 180 languages and dialects at home, and roughly a quarter speak a language other than English at home. GCPS runs on about 24,000 teachers and staff, and it's home to nationally ranked programs — the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST) has been ranked the #1 high school in Georgia and among the top 10 in the country.

How the Cluster System Works
GCPS organizes its schools into 20 high school "clusters." Each cluster is a feeder pattern — a group of elementary and middle schools that all funnel into one designated high school. In practice, this means the cluster your address falls into determines your child's assigned elementary, middle, and high school — not just whichever building happens to be closest.
Here's the part people miss: boundaries can shift block by block, and two houses on the same street can sometimes land in different clusters. GCPS itself says its cluster map is only "a general guide." So the neighborhood name — or what a neighbor tells you — isn't enough. The only reliable way to confirm your specific schools is the district's official attendance zone locator by exact address (or a call to GCPS Planning at 678-301-7085 for feeder-specific questions).
