My number one, and it wasn't close. Kurt's has been family-owned and cooking European food in Duluth since 1985 — in a county where restaurants come and go every year, four decades of packed dining rooms tells you everything. This is the place I take out-of-town guests when I want to show them Gwinnett has depth.
The Food
European with a German backbone: schnitzel with spätzle, a roasted pork shank that arrives with a knife standing in it, sausage skillets with sauerkraut and crispy onions, plus hand-carved and dry-aged steaks, fresh seafood, and a Black Forest cake worth saving room for. The beer list leans into real German imports, and the wine program includes a self-serve Enomatic wine bar.

Price Range
Entrées run roughly $26–$38 — chicken schnitzel at the low end, veal preparations near the top. For the quality and portions, it's honestly one of the better values in upscale Gwinnett dining. Weeknight happy-hour specials (half-price wine bottles, bier flights) bring it well into date-night range.
The Atmosphere
Intimate and warm — wood-paneled booths, a small dining room that fills up fast, private rooms for groups, and a covered patio. It reads more neighborhood institution than special-occasion showpiece: white tablecloth quality without the stiffness.
